We went with a semitransparent Sherwin Willams hawthorn stain to provide a consistent tone and color pallet to the project. The one sided privacy wall has small gaps down near a seated to standing position and large gaps above and below, to make it feel not too walled in. The topsides of all wood comments are burnt for lifetime maintenance free surfaces.
